Building A Bridge Art Exhibition
Bringing Tribal Artists Together
SRTAG upholds and supports the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of Native American art. Artists from both Official State Recognized Tribes and Federally Recognized Tribes are welcome to apply for this exclusive art show, which is limited to 25 participants. Each selected artist will receive a $140 stipend for their participation. To comply with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, all applicants must provide a photo of their tribal ID to confirm their eligibility. Alternatively, applicants may submit a letter from the tribe they represent on official letterhead, stating that they are artisans for the tribe. Please note that applying to this show does not guarantee acceptance into the Building a Bridge Art Exhibition. We are excited to announce we have received a Grant from Wisconsin Humanities! Our project supports Wisconsin Humanities’ mission to strengthen our democracy through educational and cultural programs that build connections and understanding among people of all backgrounds and beliefs throughout the state.

"The Indian Arts & Crafts Act (IACA) of 1990 (P.L. 101-644) is a truth-in-advertising law that prohibits misrepresentation in the marketing of Indian art & craft products within the United States."
"Under the IACA, an Indian is defined as a member of any federally or officially State recognized tribe of the United States, or an individual certified as an Indian artisan by an Indian tribe."
"SRTAG represents all Official State Recognized Tribes across 5 regions of the United States. We do not represent tribes, groups or bands that are not considered official. "
"Offical means tribes that are found from the following: the National Congress of American Indians, the National Conference of State Legislatures and Individual State Indian Affairs Commissions."
